Event Details

In 2010, the E-business and Supply Chain Management program along with its program partners will host the first Supply Chain Summit.  The summit is designed to provide a platform for industry leaders and educators to share expertise on the challenges and opportunities in supply chain. It will also serve as an opportunity to support education efforts that equip future supply chain leaders with solutions for the future of the industry.

The first summit will target sustainability. Whether it is transportation, alternative packaging or energy, the decisions that must be made will have multi-generational impact.  Understanding that impact is not just imperative for today’s decision makers, but for decision makers of the future.

Summit on Sustainable Supply Chains Comes to Nashville October 14- 15

·         TSU College of Business hosts inaugural event on industry-education partnerships

·         Speakers include senior executives from Wal-Mart, IBM, Norfolk Southern

·         Industry expert Dr. David Simchi-Levi of MIT to discuss new book “Operations Rules”

 

NASHVILLE – Leading voices in the field of sustainable supply chains will convene in Nashville this fall for the first Supply Chain Summit hosted by the Tennessee State University College of Business e-Business and Supply Chain program.  The Summit: Sustainable Supply Chains: Industry-Education Partnerships, is being held at the Nashville Marriott on Oct. 14-15.

 

The Summit will provide a platform for educators and industry leaders to learn the latest trends and developments from both an academic and business perspective, hear expertise on the challenges and opportunities, and discuss best practices and workforce development efforts that drive global sustainability efforts in supply chains.

 

Highlights of the Summit will include:

·         Informative sessions led by supply chain and sustainability professionals from companies such as IBM, Norfolk Southern Corporation, Lexmark International, Wal-Mart  and GENCO, as well as education leaders from MIT,  the University of Tennessee and Portland State University;

·         Dr. David Simchi-Levi, MIT Engineering Systems Professor, author and editor-in-chief of the journal Operations Research, speaking about his upcoming book Operations Rules;
